LEAF Framework Reaches 100 Million Data Points

The LEAF Framework has reached a major milestone: the successful collection and management of its 100 millionth data point.

From a Two-Partner Effort to an Open Platform

What started as an effort between UNLOCK Microbial Potential and Bioindustry 4.0 to connect research equipment has evolved into an open platform for real-time scientific data acquisition, management, and reuse across laboratories, pilot facilities, and industrial research environments.

Why FAIR Data Matters

We believe data only becomes valuable when it is FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Without those properties, data collected from research equipment tends to stay locked away on individual instruments or in disconnected spreadsheets, useful only to the person who generated it.

What LEAF Enables

The LEAF Framework was built to make FAIR data collection practical at scale:

  • Real-time monitoring of experiments and processes
  • Fine-grained access management, ensuring the right people have access to the right data at the right time
  • Historical data streams that can be viewed and analysed
  • Open interfaces connecting equipment, databases, digital twins, and analytics platforms
